Passed peacefully away on July 8, 2026 at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Major Daisy Cavell Skeard (nee Thompson), aged 94 years. Daisy was the youngest child born to George and Victoria Thompson in Coleys Point, NL in 1931. With her Salvationist parents, she attended The Salvation Army Corps in Bay Roberts, NL where she became a Junior Soldier, Senior Soldier, Songster, Bandsman and was very involved in other Corps activities. Once commissioned as a Salvation Army Officer in 1952, Daisy was in charge of several Corps in NL before her marriage to Captain Garland Skeard. Together they served in Corps and Social Services appointments across NL and in Halifax, Nova Scotia before retiring from active Officership in 1994. Daisy loved the 'Word' and enjoyed preaching and conducting the prayer meeting where she led many people over the years to the Lord. She was very thankful for the opportunity of working for her Lord and the Army that she loved. She loved her people that she shepherded and was known to always have a cheerful smile and a friendly word to everyone she met.

Daisy leaves to mourn with fond and beautiful memories her son, George (Verena); grandson David (Charlene); her great-grandchildren whom she adored Emmy and Cooper as well as many special nieces, nephews, and other relatives and a large circle of friends.
