Rideout
Sep 25, 1960 — Jan 3, 2026
Middle Arm
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clayton John Rideout announces his passing at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Care Centre on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the age of 65 years.
John was born in Corner Brook on September 25th, 1960 to Leonard & Melvina, more commonly known as Len & Millie. He met a young lady in December 1982 by the name of Marilyn Mitchell. He became so smitten with her that he married her a year later in December 1983. The lovin must have been pretty good because along came Adam 1984, Darla 87 & Bonita 89. Over the years John worked at several jobs: Advocate Mines, Middle Arm Fish Plant, & logging for a number of years with Herb Janes. 23 years ago, he returned to school & obtained a diploma in Marine Cooking! He worked on many ships over the years, the last being cook on the Bay L'Argent ferry on the South Coast. He worked there for several years & always talked about the people he met. He truly fell in love with the people & the place! John loved being on the water! He loved fishing, hunting & anything outdoors. But the light of his life was his Grandchildren! John & Marilyn were married 42 years this past December.
John was predeceased by his father Leonard Rideout; parents-in-law - Raymond & Bertha Mitchell
