It is with heavy hearts that the Jacobs-Foss family announces the passing of their beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Cherry Beulah Mary Jacobs (née Foss), who peacefully passed away on September 4, 2026, at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, surrounded by love and family. She was 75 years old.

Cherry was born in Snook's Arm on April 20, 1951, to Cecil and Maisie Foss. She moved to Baie Verte in 1968, where she met the love of her life, Ralph Jacobs. They were married on June 28, 1969. Together, they raised two children, Brian and Connie, and suffered the heartbreaking loss of their baby girl, Jennifer, at just one day old. Cherry lived a life devoted to her family and was deeply involved in the lives of her two precious grandchildren, Emma-Jean and Thomas Downey. Cherry was the heart of the home. Known for her warm heart, gardening, quilting talents, and impeccable cooking and baking skills, Cherry made everyone around her feel like family. Her family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others, rather than the sadness of her passing.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 57 years, Ralph Jacobs; children, Brian Jacobs (Dennis Amaral)  and Connie Downey (Harold); grandchildren, Emma-Jean Downey (Mikaila Simmons) and Thomas Downey; siblings, Velma (Ted) Foote, Jean Foss, Carl (Donna) Foss, and Deborah Foss; siblings-in-law, Jenny Norman, Edgar (Bernadette) Jacobs, Maxine (Klaus) Boehler, Joan (Jamie) Whibley, and Neville Jacobs; as well as sister-in-law, Elaine Jacobs, and a large circle of special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Jennifer; siblings, Melvina Burton (Alex Young) and Robert Foss; siblings-in-law, Gloria Jacobs, Tom (Ada) Jacobs, Ron Jacobs, Eva (Harry) Greene, Robert Jacobs, and Gary Norman; and her parents, Cecil and Maisie Foss.

The public visitation with family take place on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 1:00PM - 5:00PM at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL.

The memorial service will take place 2:00PM on Friday, September 11, 2026 at Bethany United Church, Baie Verte, NL.
