Obituary

It is with sadness that the family of the late Bernice Lillian Blake announces her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, NL, aged 74 years.

Bernice was born on September 17, 1948 to Clifford and Viola Budgell. She lived in Peter's Arm, NL until she married her husband John in 1967. They moved at that time to Peterview, NL and raised their family of 6 children.

Bernice was an active member in her church and her community. She was a member of the Seniors Club, St. John Ambulance, Ladies Auxillary, Heritage Committee, Peterview Rec Board, Quiet Corners, taught Girl Guides & Beavers and was a member of the Home League. She loved playing soft ball, darts and broom ball. Bernice loved spending time at her cabin with family, friends and her precious little dog, Dlla. She was loved by many and will be missed by even more. Her greatest love was for her Lord, her husband John, and Elvis Presley.

Leaving to mourn with wonderful and special memories is her husband of 56 years John, her children: Edward (Angela), Cathy, Steve (Anita), Gerald, Patrinna (Gerald) and Perry (Christina). Her grandchildren: Nathan, Blake, Kathleen, Brianna, Emily, Noah, Claire and her great-grandson Kirk. Her sister Barb Blake (Neil), Marlie (Roy), brothers, Les, Kenneth (Florence), Ivan (Barb), Gilbert, Dennis; in-laws, Andrew and Mary Sheppard, and Jim and Vandy Blake; as well as a large circle family and friends.

Bernice was predeceased by Clifford & Viola Budgell (parents), Aunt Madeline Blake (not only her aunt, but a second mother), Frances Blake (sister), Bond Blake (brother-in-law), Gerald Chaulk (brother-in-law), Marge Blake (sister), Alma Blake (sister), Winston Budgell (brother), Maxine Budgell (sister-in-law) Dorothy Stuckless (sister-in-law), Gord Budgell (brother), Clifford Budgell (baby brother), Bert & Flossie Blake (In-laws), Ann Chaulk (sister-in-law), and Tom Blake (brother-in-law).

The public visitation will take place Sunday, July 9, 2023 at 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm from The Salvation Army Church, Peterview, NL.

The funeral service will take place Monday, July 10, 2023 at 2 pm from The Salvation Army Church, Peterview, NL. with Major Fred Randell officiating.

In lieu of flower, donations in her memory may be made to The New Peterview Salvation Army Cemetery Fund.
