It is with great sadness that the family of the late Augustine Silvey announces his passing on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the age of 83 years.

As a young boy, he fished with his father. He taught School in Baie Verte for one year and also worked at Advocate mines until it closed down. Gus was a vivid sports fan, especially Blue Jays and Buffalo Sabers.

Augustine leaves to mourn his wife, Geraldine Silvey; son, Shayne Silvey (Reynalyn Garcia); siblings, Mary Ann Daigneault (Jacques), Mary Frances "Dolly" Silvey, Madeline Hull, Margret Tobin (Ronald), Edward Silvey and Sharon Mills (Tyrone); siblings-in-law, Christina Walsh, Pauline Barrett, Claudine Leger, Robert "Big Bob" Walsh, Mathais Walsh, Randy Walsh (Juantia), Paul Walsh (Cynthia), Susan Barrett (Anthony), Josephine Patafio, Rod Walsh (Sheila).

He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas & Mary Josephine Silvey; siblings, Micheal Silvey (Mary), Thomas Silvey, Arthur Silvey (Margaret "Rose"), Patrick Silvey; parents-in-law, Thomas & Johanna "Gertie" Walsh; siblings-in-law, John Hull & Charlie Bourque, Stephen John Walsh, James Walsh, Henry Jude Walsh, & Baby Walsh, Thomas Traverse, Robert Barrett, Rocco Patafio, Ralph Leger.

Public visitation will take place from St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Fleur de Lys, NL on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 2-6 pm.

A Rosary service will take place at 6:30 pm, followed by a Wake service at 7 pm.

The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 1pm. Interment will follow from St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Fleur de Lys, NL.
