Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Arthur Edward Hibbs announces his passing at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Centre, Botwood, NL aged 87 years.

Arthur leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children, Gladys (Dave) Seymour, Katie (Bill) Earle, Madeline (Roland) Blake, Barbara Hibbs, Dianne (Calvin) Hibbs, Betty Keats, Guy (Bernice) Hibbs, Wanda (Bob) Pope, Elaine (Anthony) Saunders, Christanne (Rocky) Hibbs, Leroy (Doreen) Hibbs, Morris (Nadine) Hibbs; 37 grandchildren; 90 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Bessie Burt, Daisy Langdon, Mabel Keats; brothers, Rex Hibbs, Norman Hibbs; plus a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. A very special friend Wood Hibbs.

Arthur is predeceased by his wife, Olive Hibbs; parents, Silas & Levinia Hibbs; granddaughters, Melissa Saunders, Natasha Hibbs; grandsons, Gavin Hibbs, Oliver Saunders; great-grandson, Ethan Penny; sisters, Pansy Hibbs, Berlynn Randell, Gertie Burt; sons-in-law, Lorne Keats & Richard Billings.

Arthur worked hard for his wife Olive and 12 children. By working in the woods, leaving home on Sunday and returning on Friday.  He worked with the town of Peterview for 32 plus years until he retired in December 2001.

He loved his outdoors hunting, fishing, he built his own boat in 2016 . He loved going into the woods and boiling up for a good cup of strong tea. He was a good man that loved his family and friends alike and he made everyone feel like they were his family. He will be greatly missed by all.

The public visitation will take place Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 2-4 & 7-9 pm from Botwood Funeral Home, 147 Commonwealth Drive, Botwood, NL.

The funeral service will take place Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 2 pm from The Salvation Army Citadel, 116 Main Street, Peterview, NL.

The interment will follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Peterview, NL.

As expressions of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to The Salvation Army Church, Peterview, NL.
