With heavy hearts and profound sadness, the family of Annabell Bouzane announce her passing on January 31, 2026, surrounded by love.

Leaving to mourn her passing are her sons, William (Daphne) Bouzane, Jim Bouzane, and Don (Oxana) Bouzane; her daughters, Shirley Bouzane, Irene (Lorne Baker) Bouzane, Isabel (Herb Lopez) Bouzane, Annmarie (Gerry Oldford) Bouzane, and Marion (Karl) Peet; her sisters, Sheila Hiscock, Katherine Basha, and Norma Hutchens; her sister-in-law, Kitty Collins; her brother-in-law, Reginald Downton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Annabell was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Bouzane; her sisters, Bertha Collins, Mary Tobin, Jean (Reginald) Downton, and Barbara (Roy) Sheppard; her brothers, George (Kitty) Collins, Vincent (Selena) Collins, Dave (Jo) Collins, and Pat Collins; her grandson, Brandon McIntyre; and her son, Vincent Bouzane.

Annabell loved her family above all else. She was fiercely independent and hardworking—traits she passed on to all her children.

Her early years were tough. Aunt Sister Cyprian once said, "Annabell, the good Lord slapped it on you, but He never buckled your knees once." Everyone knows the story of Mom cutting up a tractor tire with a paring knife to help keep her family warm. Childhood friends recall being treated like family, including one who was welcomed into her home for a time and became part of her brood. Another spoke of how grateful he was to be treated as an equal despite having a troubled reputation, returning years later just to visit her. To many, she was a second Mom, remembered fondly for her "famous" homemade bread.

Life became easier in later years when Dad helped her get her driver's license—freedom she truly cherished. She enjoyed a simple life: watching TV, going shopping, picking up her lottery tickets at Pondview, cooking meals to share, and enjoying her peace.

As dementia crept in, she fought it with the same independence that defined her, never losing her sense of humour. We will miss you terribly, Mom, but we know you are surrounded by loved ones and are finally "home."

The public visitation will take place Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM & 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM from at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.

A Service of Celebration will take place on February 5, 2026  at 2:00 PM from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 8A Church Road, Grand Falls–Windsor, NL.

Interment will take place at a later date.
