Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Anita Nellie Alward announces her passing from Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, Grande Prairie, AB on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the age of 76 years.

Anita's zest for life can be seen from everything she accomplished in her life. She grew up in a small town but her experiences and knowledge were expansive and she gained many life long friends.

She loved her family and done anything she could to help. She took great pride in the years of care for foster children and she loved everyone that came into her home, leaving the door open to them always.

In her past time she loved to spend time at her cabins which were filled with memories of her family and knicks and antiques she had collected over the years. It was always her retreat.

Anita was very outgoing and enjoyed company and laughing; her laugh could be heard for a mile away and her smile brightened every room.

Left with a lifetime of beautiful memories are her sons - Thomas Alward (Anita), Westport, NL, Shene Alward (Patricia), Grande Prairie, AB, and Gavin Alward (April), Little Fort, BC; daughter-in-law - Cheryl Pollard; grandchildren - Christina Pollard (Mark), Steven Alward (Melissa), Mikayla Alward (Nelson), Hailey Hunt-Alward, Emma Hunt; Bailey Chaisson, Amanda Mueller (Andy), Connor Toyata, Patricia Bukkos; Robin Criss, Landon Alward; step-grandchildren - Mark Lewis, Dana Lewis; great-grandchildren - Elora and Kellan Bukkos, Amos Mueller, ; siblings, Phoebe Jacobs (Stanley), Bonnie Jacobs (Rex), Harry Gavin (Kathleen); siblings-in-law, Stanley Alward and Marylee Webster (Gerry); as well as many nieces, nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends.

Predeceased by her husband Sterling Alward; her parents - Hayward and Eliza Gavin; parents-in-law - Stan and Florence Alward; siblings - Allan Gavin and Margaret Gavin.

She will be missed but never forgotten.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
