It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Alymer Rodrick Osborne announces his passing from the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's NL on Sunday, June 23, 2024, aged 82 years.

Alymer was born on May 26, 1942 to Matthias and Minnie Osborne in Seal Cove, NL. He grew up with a large family of siblings in Seal Cove, where he eventually married Jessie Parsons. Together they were blessed with three treasures, Pansy, Flo and Nancy, later welcoming their precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the latter of which called him "Old Pop". Alymer and Jessie were blessed with 60 years of marriage. He loved his family with his entire heart, and they him, just as much.

In his working life, Alymer held a vast amount of positions including working with Clayton Green & Sons in Baie Verte and later in Burlington, inshore fishing and salmon fishing, as the Assistant Manager of the Liquor Store in Baie Verte and at the Baie Verte Advocate Mines, where he worked for 16 years. He also went to College at the age of 52 for two years completing Office Administration, and even held the title of Mayor in Seal Cove for seven years.

Alymer loved the great outdoors, from cutting wood, moose hunting, rabbit catching, trips to the cabin and camping. He also loved helping people in any way he could, between tax filings, form completion, applications, phone calls. If he could assist someone he did it. He was helping to build the A-Frame Building in Baie Verte years ago when he came home one day in his shirt sleeves because he had given away his snow suit to someone who needed it. A kinder man would be very hard to find.

Church was another large part of his life, Alymer was a Lay Reader for 18 years and helped keep two churches going while they were without clergy, a pillar to his family, his community and his church.

Alymer will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him.

Left with a lifetime of precious memories is his wife of 60 years, Jessie Osborne; daughters, Pansy Eveleigh (Hughie), Flo MacIsaac (Paul) and Nancy Khan (Aftab); grandchildren, Shannon (Tracy), Hilliary, Sarah, Nyla; great-grandsons, SJ and Kolby; siblings, Matthias Jr. Osborne (Marjorie), Basil Osborne (Bonnie), Irene Keats (Patrick), Pearce Osborne, Rita Green, Major Marie Keeping (David), Ellis Osborne (Monda); siblings-in-law, Elsie Fudge (Milton), Blanche Parsons, Bessie Chaulk, Malcolm Parsons, Gordon Parsons (Sadie), John Parsons (Beverly), Garland Parsons (Glenda), Viola Parsons, Maxine Parsons and Ruby Parsons, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many, many friends.

Alymer is predeceased by his parents, Matthias and Minnie Osborne; infant siblings, Chesley, Ella May and Beulah Osborne; brother, Francis Osborne; parents-in-law, Maxwell and Gladys Parsons; siblings-in-law, infant, Maisie Parsons, Neta Osborne (Garland), Max Parsons (Daisy), Wallace Chaulk, Jim Parsons (Fern), Gerald Parsons, Melvin Parsons, Cyril Parsons, Melita Parsons, Mable Osborne and Larry Green.

Public visitation will take place from St. Swithin's Anglican Church, Seal Cove, NL on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.

The funeral service will take place from St. Swithin's Anglican Church, Seal Cove, NL on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 2 pm, with Reverend Nancy Hulan officiating. Interment will follow from St. Swithin's Anglican Cemetery, Seal Cove, NL.
