It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Althea Annie Osborne (Gillingham) announces her passing. Althea passed away at the Baie Verte Peninsula Health Centre, Baie Verte, NL on Saturday, November 20th, 2021 at the age of 71 years.

Althea was born on April 12th, 1950 in Seal Cove, White Bay to Joseph & Effie Gillingham. She grew up as part of a large family and went to work at a young age. She started working at AT Whites grocery store as a salesclerk and had several other store positions through the years and finished her career as a postal clerk in Seal Cove. On June 24th, 1968 she married the love of her life George Osborne which lasted for 53 years. They went on to adopt four children.

Althea was very active and involved in her children's lives, she was active in both school and extra-curricular activities such as Brownies/Guides and Scouts.

Althea's faith was very strong which kept her active in the church. She was involved with the CEWA and continued with the ACW. She was involved in all aspects of the church and her favourite was to sing in the choir. Althea also enjoyed all kinds of crafting, quilting and cake decorating. She enjoyed planning all kinds of events and knew how to get it done. Above all, Althea was loving and was loved by many.

Althea is predeceased by her parents – Joseph & Effie Gillingham; stepmother – Rita Gillingham; sister – Marie; parents-in-law – Jacob & Doris Osmond; brothers-in-law – Clyde Osmond, Arthur Osmond, Allan Osmond, Quong Jim; son-in-law – Mighty "Ukeme" Nyong.

Left with warm and loving memories is her husband – George Osborne, Seal Cove, NL; children – Donett Roberts (Shawn), Morgan Osborne (Jaime), Jennifer Reid (Richard) & Carla Osborne; grandchildren – Shawna Bacon (Travis), Samantha Roberts (Adam), Cody Osborne, Kelli Osborne & Zane Nyong; great-grandchildren – Brady, Jordynn & Khyler Bacon & Jackson Norris; siblings – Edward Gillingham (Donna), Gerald Gillingham (Bev), Irene Gillingham, Albert Gillingham (Leona), Harvey Gillingham (Christine), Sheila Pinksen (Steward), Ivan Gillingham (Mildred) & Eunice Gavin (Morris); siblings-in-law – Hilda Bungay (Harold), Daphne Osmond, Joyce Osmond & Derrick Osmond (Karen), along with a large number of nieces, nephews & an even larger number of extended family and many friends.

Public Visitation took place at Foster Funeral Home, Baie Verte, NL on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021 from 2:00-4:00PM. In keeping with the COVID-19 guidelines, visitors must provide NLVaxPass or proof of vaccination + photo id to attend the visitation.

Reverend Madonna Boone conducted the Funeral Service at St. Swithin's Anglican Church, Seal Cove, NL on Wednesday, November 24th, 2021 at 2:00PM. Interment followed at St. Swithin's Anglican Cemetery, Seal Cove, NL. Those attending the service must provide NLVaxPass or proof of vaccination + photo ID.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted, or donations may be made in Althea's memory to St. Swithin's Anglican Church "Memorial Fund", Seal Cove, NL A0K 5E0.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Foster Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Baie Verte, NL.
